Antonia Karra, with her new collection Treasure Chest, takes us on a journey alongside the mighty pirates of history and literature, whose adventurous tales have charmed the public for ages.

Pirates raised flags with various designs, such as skeletons, guns and hearts, often referred to as the Jolly Roger, before the distinctive black flag with the skull and bones was established. It was first used by the Irishman Edward England (1717-1720) as the flag of his pirate ship, the Pearl.

The greatest inspiration for Antonia Karra’s Treasure Chest, however, is the infamous Anne Bonny, the most famous female pirate who stormed the seas and became a symbol for her uncompromising spirit and passion for freedom.

Raising their sails, other rebellious female pirates like her discover rich treasures to wrap around their necks and arms: rare shells, embossed rings with captivating textures, charms that ward off the evil eye, rudders, anchors and nautical motifs of all kinds.
